Springer Nature is recruiting for the position of Editor-in-Chief ofCell and Tissue Banking.
Springer is specifically interested in candidates committed to advancingCell and Tissue Bankingas a sound science journal – that is, a journal which prioritises scientific validity without consideration for novelty or impact, in order to better serve the community as a home forallscientifically sound research in the field (including negative and confirmatory results, as well as data).
The key responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief include:
Initial handling of all submissions received by the journal (~250 expected in 2025).
Assessing all submissions received to determine appropriateness to be sent for peer review.
Assigning appropriate Associate Editors to manage the peer review process of submissions.
Directly managing the peer review process for several submissions.
Rendering final decisions based on recommendations made by Associate Editors.
Ensuring the timely processing of all submissions.
Upholding high standards of scientific rigour and integrity.
Working with the Publisher to implement strategies for journal development.
Maintaining an international Editorial Board.
The new Editor-in-Chief will formally take over the position by January 1st2026, but is expected to begin transitioning into the role and undertaking various journal activities in the months prior.
Candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant field and have previous experience in manuscript handling and/or leadership roles for academic journals.
