The Riddell Laboratory is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Research Technician II/III to join a team of scientists working in a multi-disciplinary environment on the forefront of immunotherapy research.
The successful candidate will utilize a variety of cutting-edge cellular and molecular techniques to design next generation T cell therapies and support scientific research by performing bench-level experiments. The technician should be capable of maintaining detailed laboratory records, analyzing data, performing calculations, reporting experimental results in a fast-paced environment, operating analytical instruments, recovering/compiling/verifying the accuracy of research data and managing supplies. Supervision of others in these activities is preferred.
This position will be extended to a candidate who is creative, passionate, patient, and critical, with a strong sense of independence and accountability, detail-oriented, initiative, and drive to propel work forward. The candidate must be a team-player.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with primary investigator, and assist in designing experiments
- Process, analyze, report and communicate experimental results
- Examine proposals to determine projects and methodologies best suited to research objectives and the overall goals of the laboratory
- May lead or supervise other laboratory personnel and be responsible for the daily operation of the laboratory
- Summarize and contribute to writing and presenting the results of research projects in manuscripts or presentations, often as co-author or author. Edit and write reports of research.
- Conduct literature reviews to assist in determining most suitable methods to be used in research
Laboratory Techniques Required
- Tissue culture of mammalian cell lines
- Process and cryopreserve primary human cells
- Contribute to in vivo experiments using mouse models, sample processing, isolation of cells
- Multicolor flow cytometry-based immunophenotyping, FACS sorting
- Lentiviral/retroviral vector construction, modification, and viral transduction
- T-cell cytotoxicity assays, cytokine production and proliferation assays
- Purification, cloning, and manipulation of genomic/plasmid DNA and RNA
- PCR, cDNA synthesis and RT-qPCR
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Research Technician II:
- Bachelor's degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework
Research Technician III:
- Bachelor's degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework (or equivalent combination of advanced degree and work experience)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR RESEARCH TECHNICIAN III:
- Master's degree in a related field
- Independent research experience outside of laboratory course work is usually necessary
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Strong ability to think rationally, problem solve and troubleshoot experiments
- Excellent attention to details and the ability to work independently are essential to success in this position, as are good communication and organizational skills
- The candidate must be self-motivated, able to multitask and to work within a very collaborative environment
- Highly proficient in a variety of molecular and cellular biology techniques, and have strong fundamental knowledge of cancer immunology and cell therapy

Research Technician II: The hourly pay range for this position is from $25.71 to $36.60 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Research Technician III: The hourly pay range for this position is from $32.57 to $47.71 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
