The Director of Eye and Tissue Services will be responsible for:
Overseeing and managing all activities related to eye and tissue recovery and distribution as well as all donor referral center activities.
Developing and overseeing all clinical, annual, and orientation training and professional development activities for all eye and tissue and donor referral center staff to promote optimal skills and performance.
Review and evaluate all recovery related activities (statistics, performance metrics, key performance indicators, etc.) with a primary focus of identifying opportunities for improvement to strengthen donation activities in Western and Central New York.
Recommend, implement, and coordinate performance improvement activities as they relate to eye and tissue recovery and donor referral center activities with a constant goal of identifying opportunities to strengthen the existing program.
Assure strict compliance with all applicable regulations, standards and procedures: local, state, federal, OSHA, EBAA and AATB. Identify, investigate, and perform tissue recalls as required.
Share in the duties of acting as the Administrator-On-Call (AOC) during non-business hours by providing support and direction to staff in order to help facilitate the donation process.
Four-year degree in a healthcare related field strongly preferred. Two year degree in a healthcare related field required.
Minimum of 2 years of management experience required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in eye and/or tissue banking required with Bachelor’s degree.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in eye and/or tissue banking required with Associate’s degree.
Team-oriented approach to leadership required with a strong management philosophy of continuous quality improvement.
Strong leadership abilities with experience in delegating, conflict resolution, goal setting and budgeting.
Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills required, including communicating with diverse individuals and public speaking.
Ability to promote donation and build new business.
Must have the ability to adapt to change and facilitate change through leadership and by example.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred.
Must be detail oriented with the ability to remain accurate while under pressure.
Must have a valid NYS Drivers license and reliable transportation.
Some travel required.
