We are seeking a part-time Processing Technician to join our team of talented and dedicated professionals!
The Processing Technician will be responsible for all aspects to recover eye tissue for transplant and research use from donors and perform activities that relate to the screening of donors and distribution of tissue.
Principal Accountabilities and Requirements:
Responsible for eye laboratory functions including but not limited to:
Initiating chart creation
May request complete medical records in compliance with FDA 1271 Part 21.
Evaluation of corneas through gross evaluation, slit-lamp evaluation, and specular-microscopic evaluation to make a determination for transplant quality.
Proficiently process corneal tissue in accordance with surgeon specifications
Ensures proper documentation, packaging, delivery, and shipping of corneal tissue
Verifies corneal tissue is processed in a timely manner to fulfill surgery schedules
Exhibits an understanding of the unique gift of eye donation and the impact distribution contributes to the process
Promotes organization as a source of high quality tissue to grow distribution on a local, national and international basis
Consults with CEO, Clinical Manager and Medical Director, as needed, to obtain medical decisions/consults
Consistently performs duties in accordance with established standard operating procedures, policies, and regulations in accordance with FDA and EBAA (Eye Bank Association of America) standards
Notifies the Quality Department of deviations from established operating procedures
Participates, in person, in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities
Maintains strict confidentiality of all organization information
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Associates’ degree or equivalent work experience is required
CEBT (Certified Eye Bank Technician) certification may be required after one year of employment
Must have valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history and be able to travel within the service are
